Been a renter through them for 7 years and the shift between caring about both the owners and the renters to only caring about the owners has been an incredibly sudden jolt. The property manager when I first moved in was amazing, and understanding. She would advocate for me, and rental increases was slightly under market value to reward long term tenancy. She left, and the one that replaced her, I thought was really good too but then rent started being equal to brand new rentals and then five months ago as it started going down hill. I have been reporting damage not caused by me at the moment it happened every time, and yet things reported almost seven years ago was only just recently fixed, with the property manager trying to gaslight me by saying she had only been my property manager for 12 months and that’s why things haven’t been done. (She’s been my property manager for over two years) to trying to force me to repair damage that I have already reported wasn’t me years ago and to top it all off, suddenly caring about a small hole I accidentally put into a door I have been trying to replace, passing on a message from the owner saying I have three weeks to fix the door. Which is clearly a threat. When I asked if it could be clarified to me my property manager responded with “I don’t know what your owner is planning on doing with the house and I just work for her” but isn’t that her job? To communicate between owner and tenant? Shouldn’t she of clarified before passing on the message? It’s a real shame that the company has turned into only caring about the owner in a world where there’s no option for renters to avoid the company. I have lived in fear of being homeless for seven years, I have a mental illness that amplifies it, the three monthly inspections wreck me. and my property manager is aware of this. Yet she signed the threat off with a smiley face. I used to advocate for my property manager. Saying I was lucky to have one of the good ones. But it appears I was incredibly wrong. I was initially scared to leave a review, for fear of retribution but seeing the door size isn’t the standard door size, and it’s a 30 year old door my two kids and I are going to end up being homeless over such a small accident anyway so I have nothing to lose. I saw myself living here for as long as possibly, in an area where all the houses that are not owner occupied around me have a revolving door of tenants. But they would rather throw out a seven year old tenant over a small hole in the door and risk having a new tenant every six months to a year like the rest of the houses here.
Just sold our first home with Matt's help while we are busy interstate. We were impressed by how organised, professional and efficient Matt was. I would only describe the selling experience as easy and relaxing. If you are selling your property, you should definitely speak to Matt.
Made first home buying a pleasure! Steve Fulton was an absolute gem! As a first home buyer, I was a complete novice at the whole process but Steve took the time to explain the steps to me and made me feel reassured. His cheerful, friendly nature was a highlight of the experience and I appreciated that he checked in frequently to see how I was tracking. With Steve's help I purchased a great first house and although I am hoping to be in it for a long time yet, I wont hesitate to engage Steve in any future real estate endeavours. Thanks again Steve!
