Harcourts Focus

I am writing to express my disappointment with the level of professionalism experienced during a recent property purchase facilitated through Harcourts. I did leave a similar review on Rate My Agent, however this has been hidden on this platform, hence my need to share the experience with the company overall rather than just the agent alone. Unfortunately, the conduct of the agent involved made what should have been an exciting milestone unnecessarily stressful. At the initial viewing, the appointed agent was absent and arranged for a colleague to meet us instead. This colleague arrived approximately 20 minutes late and brought along a toddler to a four-acre property inspection. The viewing itself was largely conducted by the property owner, who was also left to handle the price negotiations directly with us as purchasers. After our offer was accepted—subject to a 21-day finance approval period—the agent repeatedly contacted us through phone calls, text messages, and emails regarding the finance process, despite the fact that we were well within the contractual timeframe. As the finance approval deadline approached, the agent sent an email insisting that unconditional finance approval be provided by 10 a.m. on the due date, even though the contract clearly stated a 4 p.m. deadline. Throughout this process, we felt pressured, stressed, and at times, bullied. Purchasing a property is inherently stressful, and the agent’s conduct amplified that stress unnecessarily. There were also instances of inappropriate questioning—for example, when I explained that our loan approval process involved overseas banking staff, the agent questioned why I was “not concerned” about my personal details being shared internationally. This comment was unprofessional and unhelpful. Despite these challenges, we met all contractual requirements, obtained finance approval within the designated period, and did not require any extensions. However, the overall experience with Harcourts was disappointing and fell far short of the level of professionalism and customer service we expected. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used constructively to improve client relations.
