Disappointing Experience – Poor Communication and Lack of Support My experience with Dene from Harcourts Real Estate Batemans Bay was disappointing from start to finish. Communication throughout the off-the-plan purchase was vague and infrequent, and once the contract was signed, the level of engagement dropped away almost completely. As a buyer, I expected clear communication, updates, and some professional guidance — but instead, I was met with indifference and a lack of responsiveness. There was little effort made to follow up or assist with even basic queries after the sale. Purchasing a property is a significant investment, and it deserves to be treated with care and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I would encourage future buyers to seek an agent who genuinely values their clients and communicates with integrity and consistency. After arranging a meeting (at his own request) to conduct a final inspection at my property, Dene from Harcourts Real Estate Batemans Bay failed to attend without any notice or explanation. I travelled from Canberra to Batemans Bay specifically for this appointment, only to be left waiting at the property — along with another client who was also expecting Dene’s attendance. He did not bother to call, message, or send a representative in his place. This level of disregard is completely unacceptable and demonstrates a serious lack of professionalism and respect for clients’ time. Thankfully, a foreman on site allowed access so we could complete our inspection before move-in. This incident was the final example in a long list of disappointing interactions. Communication from Dene throughout my off-the-plan purchase was vague, sporadic, and indifferent. Once the contract was signed, his interest and engagement disappeared entirely. Buying a property is one of the most significant investments a person can make, and it deserves to be handled with professionalism, accountability, and care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Dene or Harcourts Batemans Bay. I strongly urge anyone considering using Dene or Harcourts for a purchase or sale to think twice. The lack of respect, communication, and responsibility is simply not worth the stress or frustration. To your reply below: Your response to my review only further confirms the concerns I raised. Instead of demonstrating professionalism or accountability, your reply reflects exactly the kind of conduct that should not be associated with anyone representing clients in real estate. Your review still does not explain why you were a no-show to an important meeting that you had arranged for the final handover inspection — not only for myself, but for others as well. I find this completely unprofessional. This was a brand-new apartment that required a comprehensive, professional inspection to identify any defects prior to settlement, allowing the builder and solicitor to address them appropriately. Your proposed 30-minute timeframe was wholly inadequate — no meaningful inspection could have been conducted in that time, limited only to cosmetic elements while structural issues would have been completely overlooked. Even the builder acknowledged that 30 minutes was entirely insufficient. The fact that you’re now requesting my email address — which you have had on file for over three years — simply reinforces the lack of attention and follow-through that defined my experience. If you genuinely wish to revisit our communications, I am more than happy to share the complete email exchanges publicly. They provide a clear and accurate record of events, leaving no room for misrepresentation. This will be my final comment on the matter.
