I recently applied for a rental property at 14 Ilma Court, Bulleen, and had a very unprofessional and unethical experience, with Cici particularly, and Wing. I was approved for a property with an agreed move in date in 13 days time. I was asked to supply a bond and rent in advance within 24 hours, and was told the lease agreement would be emailed that day. It was not. I informed Cici, it would take me a week to 10 days to transfer the funds, but as the lease wasn't due to commence for 13 days, I did not think this was an issue. I was then engaged in several communications re furniture, swimming pool maintenance, the fact that I had furniture I was trucking down from Qld etc. I then received communication from Cici that she had copied my email address incorrectly and requesting I text her the correct one, which I did as soon as I saw her message. That is the last I heard from her. On the Monday morning, 4 days late now for the lease agreement, I call her to ask if she wants the bond etc brought to the office, and suggesting we sign the lease. She then tells me the owner has changed their mind and I am no longer the applicant. I explain that I have cancelled a storage unit, my current accommodation, and organised the truck from Qld on the understanding that I was, as informed, approved, and just awaiting a delayed lease to come through. I am now informed that there is nothing they will do to honour their agreement with me, despite the cost to me financially, and re storage etc etc..... I unwillingly warned I would have no recourse but to take this further, given the costs I have incurred, and was informed "The owner doesn't care if you take legal action." And that was the end of the conversation. This does not strike me as professional, or ethical, or 'doing what is right, even when it isn't easy' as is claimed on the website. I am a 63 year old professional woman who earns more than double the rental value of the property. I now see it is being advertised and inspections invited, for $600+/month LESS, than the rental I was prepared to pay. Obviously I have no choice but to take this further, again reluctantly, as such a glib and inconsiderate attitude, with real life consequences, for me, acting in good faith, needs to be held accountable.
