My recent experience with one of your property managers while applying for a rental property. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and left me feeling frustrated and upset. After my application was approved, I was told at approximately 1:00 pm on Monday that I needed to pay both the bond and the first month's rent within 12 hours. This meant I was expected to organise and transfer a significant amount of money that same evening. Before making any payment, I requested a copy of the rental agreement on several occasions, as I was not comfortable transferring funds without reviewing and signing the lease. Despite asking multiple times, my requests were not addressed. I also requested that the bond be lodged through the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA). The agent appeared unfamiliar with the RTBA process, and after I explained how it works, my message was ignored. Instead, I was told that the property could not be held any longer and that he would proceed with another applicant. To add to the pressure, the agent advised that there were four other approved applications for the same property and repeatedly rushed me to make a payment. As a working mum trying to make an informed decision for my family, I found this approach unreasonable and unprofessional. Expecting someone to organise payment of a bond and rent within a matter of hours—without first providing a rental agreement—is simply not acceptable. This property was an excellent fit for my family's needs and lifestyle, and I am extremely disappointed that we missed the opportunity due to the way the application was handled. I believe the situation could have been avoided had the process been managed professionally and with reasonable communication. I also hope that, should another suitable property become available through your agency, I will not be required to deal with this particular agent again. I consider myself to be a very understanding and patient person, which is why this experience has been so upsetting. I felt it was important to bring it to your attention in the hope that it can be addressed and that others do not have a similar experience.
