Shame we have to post this, but we honestly don’t know what else to do at this point. For weeks, we’ve sent multiple emails to several addresses, called reception, left messages, and even tried contacting agents directly on their mobiles — given to us by the reception’s. all with no response. We’ve leased the same property for 14 years, and for 13 and a half of those years the previous agency was always helpful and responsive. Since the management changed to Sonter, however, our experience has been the complete opposite. We were sent our invoice last month for DOUBLE the rent we usually pay without any explanation on the invoice , or prior communication or written notice. So we initially presumed it was a typo or mistake. We have contacted them literally 100 times by email, phone, left messages with reception, tried their mobiles. Landlines and we just get ignored. We have now been sent another months invoice and it’s gone up a further 1000 per month on that, again without explanation, and still no reply to our emails or calls Guidelines are in place for a reason, and tenants should have written reasonable notice, there should be quotes and explanations and chances to get a second opinion before any increase of substance and guidelines do not include just sending an invoice with rent doubled without any conversation or explanation at all. They also should be following cpi, non of this has been done. We have been ignored every time we attempt to gain clarity. Our neighbours who have also leased for some time are already packing up and leaving, these are good people, just a number to these guys but hard working people who have been renting next to us for years. This is a property that is in the RED for flooding, I’m talking onto the second floor knee deep in water 5 times. Landlords think they can easily replace tenants, and they probably can, but can they get tenants who will stay for 14 years, lose everything to flooding 5x and be happy to not receive a dollar of rental reprieve while unable to operate their business or to help repair the damage to the building.. we didn’t ask for a dollar in covid, and certainly weren’t offered any either If this is how they treat long term tenants , I wouldn’t feel comfortable having them as my property managers, they are unable or unwilling to be contacted, they do not respond , they don’t follow the lease agreements. It seems their tactic is to ignore ignore ignore and then send threatening letters or breaches rather than responding to your many attempts to contact them. They’re either highly incompetent or trying to bully old tenants out, but I doubt it is that as they could just end our lease. I wouldn’t feel good having them manage my property when they don’t communicate, reply or respond

Aleesa was the seller’s agent for my first property, and she has the been most helpful agent that I’ve encountered in my house-hunting journey. She has been really flexible from the get-go when I requested a private inspection of the property, and has been a great communicator. If it weren’t for her, early settlement for the property I purchased wouldn’t have been possible as the solicitors I worked with has been average at best. Lastly, she was very accomodating up to the last bit which is picking up the keys. She had stayed back half an hour after office closure on a Friday just to make sure that I can get my keys before the week ends. 10/10 service. Would highly recommend.
