I had an extremely disappointing experience with McGrath Estate Agents during the attempted sale of my property. After signing with the agency over three months ago, communication was consistently poor. There were multiple occasions where agents arrived late to open inspections, and potential buyers left rather than wait. Despite the campaign beginning to gain traction with increasing buyer interest and enquiries, I often felt left in the dark regarding genuine feedback and enquiry details. The handling of the campaign became increasingly frustrating. The auction was cancelled at the last minute, which in my opinion negatively impacted the momentum of the sale campaign. In addition, the agency later withdrew the property from sale without my agreement to proceed, which brought the campaign to an unexpected end. When management became involved, communication did not improve. I frequently had to chase updates myself, and concerns raised by my wife and I did not feel as though they were taken seriously. One of the biggest concerns was the pressure placed on us to significantly reduce the asking price of our home. As the vendor, we were covering substantial campaign costs, yet it felt as though the focus became lowering the price rather than properly marketing and negotiating the property’s value. We also discovered discrepancies between what was verbally discussed regarding fees and commissions and what was actually written in the contract, which fortunately we identified before signing. Based on my experience, I found the service unprofessional, poorly communicated, and heavily focused on achieving a quicker sale through price reductions rather than working in the client’s best interests. After everything we experienced throughout this campaign, I would not recommend signing with this agency or trusting them with the sale of your property. Sellers should carefully review all agreements, question all fees and commissions, and ensure they are receiving honest communication and professional service.
