My wife and I made a formal written offer of $700,000 on a property Jason Hall had advertised at $700,000. Instead of acting professionally, Jason immediately called me and laughed at the offer, saying there was “no chance” the owners would accept it and implying I was cheap for offering the advertised asking price. I asked him to present the offer to the vendor regardless. He flatly refused and said he would not even submit it because he believed it would be rejected. That alone was concerning enough, but his conduct became increasingly aggressive and unprofessional. After I told him we were no longer interested in dealing with him, he repeatedly called my phone over and over again. I eventually answered and clearly asked him not to contact me again. What makes this even worse is that the property later sold for $680,000, less than we were willing to pay, and we would have gone to $750,000. We genuinely loved the property and would have negotiated well above our original offer, but Jason Hall’s behaviour completely destroyed our confidence in the process and caused us to walk away. In my opinion, this was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have had dealing with a real estate agent. Buyers making legitimate offers at the advertised price deserve to be treated with respect, not mocked, dismissed, and pressured. If you are buying or selling through this agent, I would strongly recommend documenting every interaction in writing.
