Elie and Paula from Joseph Douglas are the most transparent, honest and genuine agents on the coast. They are very professional and always go above and beyond for their sellers. We had the opportunity to meet Elie and Paula when I enquired about a property in Isle of Capri that we wanted to purchase for my mother. The seller below that left the 1 star comment below paints a one sided picture of what actually occurred at the time and since we have recently relisted the property with JD Realty, she is under the assumption that Elie knew us when we originally purchased the house, which is completely untrue. Sale of the property: At the time Elie was able to negotiate a premium price for the sellers, he sold the property within one week and organised to have the deposit released to help facilitate the sellers needs. The settlement date was agreed on from the very beginning and everyone was on the same page. Inspections or lack of.... As my mother was in Sydney at the time, she purchased the property based on the photos, videos and building/pest inspection I provided, so she hadn't seen the house. The seller agreed for my mum to view the property once she came over Christmas. Both Elie and Paula tried contacting the seller and she would not return their calls, and when she did she claimed she was too busy and then her husband was sick. My mother never got to see the house until the day before settlement. The settlement was delayed 1 week and the seller was always kept in the loop via Elie or her solicitor, but was always hard to reach. Condition of the house: After we took possession of the house we realised the true state of the property (despite a building/pest inspection) and the reason the owner didn't want us to inspect it became very clear. The roof was so bad it was not repairable, but rather needed to be re tiled. The tiled flooring upstairs was cracking in most areas and we soon realised they had tiled on top of the timber floor boards. We ripped up the flooring back to the studs and re sheeted the flooring with 19mm cement sheeting, then retiled. The kitchen was absolutely disgusting and the laundry had mould in the walls and ceiling. The bathrooms had no water proofing on the floor or walls, so all needed to be ripped up. The bedroom upstairs had no external window and all the windows needed replacing. We spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to make the house liveable, so for the seller to say that Elie was working for the seller is an absolute insult! He achieved an excellent price for seller, not for the buyer! All the neighbours were so happy when we purchased the home and expressed that they had not had a pleasant experience with the original home owners (sellers). The best thing that came out of purchasing this property was meeting Elie and Paula. They are so down to earth and genuine people and I honestly can't recommend them enough.
